The Challenge

Is to provide a recently renovated Florida Ranch-style home with an addition to accommodate a growing family's changing spatial needs. The project requires adding substantial square footage without altering the home's existing architectural charm. With this addition, the existing roof trusses will also need to be altered.

The Strategy

W|B will utilize vertical space to maximize the addition's footprint without compromising the valuable back yard oasis created from the previous renovation. The plan integrates in a multi-level layout to separate rest from productivity. To ensure the addition blends seamlessly with the remainder of the home, new roofing for the existing home will be provided to match the new roofing on the addition.

The Design and Execution

W|B will deliver a comprehensive design services for this 600-square-foot multi-level wing. The interior architecture features a serene master bedroom, a private bathroom, and an elevated lofted studio. The exterior transformation includes:

• A lofted studio maximizing vertical volume.

• Terracotta colored barrel-tile roofing.

• Wood-grain aluminum vertical siding.

• Slate grey modern wall tile.

The Result

A versatile, modern evolution of a classic Florida Ranch home that perfectly supports a growing family. The design seamlessly balances a private parent's retreat and a dedicated workspace with a vibrant, cohesive backyard entertainment environment.
